Late in 2011, I decided that I wanted to read 1,000 books in 2012. Feeling like a chicken, on January 1 I set my reading goal at 700 books. The number 1,000 just seemed too daunting. My good friend Alyson Beecher encouraged me to dream for 1,000, so around January 10 I upped up goal to 1,000.
I am off to a pretty good start!

Colby – Thanks for the shout-out. I tried setting my goal for lower this year to provide more time to read MG and YA novels; however, the Caldecott Challenge and Nonfiction Picture Book Challenge seem to have me deeply ensconced in picture books again. Good luck with your goal and hope you have a lot of fun while working to reach it.

Yay Colby! My goal is 300 because sometimes I feel like I’m rushing through books and I wanted to savor them. That being said – the #nerdcott is going to get me there way early if I continue at the pace I’m at. I’m going to reevaluate in a few weeks to see if I need to change my goal.
And I am anxiously awaiting all the books you wrote you were dying to read. 2012 will be a great year of reading!
