Ivy + Bean Blog-a-Bration: 6 Reasons to Love Book 6

If I were the type of guy to jump up on the tops of desks and scream how much I love a book, Ivy + Bean: Doomed to Dance would be a book I could scream about. I could go on and on about how much I adore this book, but instead I’m going to give you six quick reasons why this book rocks.

Bean Dancing

I love when characters do unexpected things. After reading books 1-5, I would never expect Bean to take up dancing, let alone beg her mom to let her.

The First Sentence

It was a book that started all the trouble.

Seriously, it doesn’t get much better than that. After reading that lead my head was spinning and I couldn’t wait to continue reading.

***************************************************************************

Germs of Hope

Might be one of my favorite chapters in all the Ivy + Bean books. Who ever thought of looking for sick kids at recess to catch germs from?

***************************************************************************

The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler

They never come out and say what book they are talking about, but it is obvious that Ivy + Bean are trying to cook up a plan to hide out in the museum like the Claudia and Jamie pulled off in The Mixed Up Files. Unfortunately, for Ivy and Bean their plan doesn’t work out as well as Claudia and Jamie’s.

***************************************************************************

A Giant Squid

Most books benefit from featuring a giant squid. Ivy + Bean: Doomed to Dance is one of those books.

***************************************************************************

The Ending

I love that Ivy + Bean: Doomed to Dance in a place where the reader can imagine how things turn out for Ivy and Bean. Annie Barrows could have taken us to where we would expect the story to end, but she doesn’t. She lets the reader’s imagination finish the story. Brilliant.
