Ten Books I Need to Read in the Next Twelve Days

I am running out of 2012 reading days. My to-read pile is as big as ever, and I am starting to feel the heat. I’m looking forward to tackling 2013 books, but first I really really need to read these 2012 books.

Schu-Jonker Books

Last year I focused my week after Christmas reading on finishing up the Schu-Jonker Top 20. I plan on doing the same this year.

Newbery?

I am sort of obssessed with the Newbery Medal, and I am hoping that when the winner is announced in January that I will be able to say that I have read the most distinguished book of the year. Some say these books are candidates, so I need to check them our before the big day.

No Crystal Stair

I have a zero percent chance of reading all of these books in the next 12 days, but it has helped to prioritize my reading.

What books are you hoping to read as we come to the end of an amazing year for children’s literature?

  1. I have several books checked out, but I’m never going to get them read before the end of the month. I always use the week of Christmas to read old favorites as I have to be social so much of the week. 🙂 Better not risk being interrupted during a new book.

  2. I am currently reading See You at Harry’s and want to read Twelve Kinds of Ice, Splendors & Glooms, The Unfortunate Son, and The Bomb. I have all these books at home from the library I work at and really want to get through them before the Newbery announcement, but it’s unlikely. I have a four day weekend coming up, though, and I’ll be trying to stay out of the Chicago snow and wind, curled up with these good books and a cup of coffee.
