Book Talking With Donalyn Miller

I’m excited to continue my One Question With Mr. Sharp series today with The Book Whisperer Donalyn Miller. If you haven’t heard Donalyn give a book talk you are really missing out. I asked her if she had any tips for educators wanting to do more book talks in their classroom/library.

Check out previous episodes of One Question With Mr. Sharp below.

  1. This was so encouraging to hear that you both believe that book talks can be brief and need not be scripted. I’ve always found that enthusiasm and speaking from the heart works well with kids, so I’m glad to hear that you, too, also believe this! The book I just finished and loved is Kat Greene Comes Clean by Melissa Roske. Kat is a strong sixth grader dealing with her mom’s extreme OCD. I highly recommend it!

  2. I loved listening to your suggestions – especially about handing the baton over to students to share book talks. I’ve recently finished so many EXCELLENT books – Dear Martin is my most recent books talks. Before I was halfway through, I had a list of eager, want-to-be-next readers! Also loved Dan Santat’s After the Fall.
