  1. Reading The Girl Who Saved Christmas with my kids at home (age ten and eight) and we’re all really enjoying it. Finally got around to reading Wishtree – wow! Why did I wait so long?!

  2. A Boy, a Mouse, and a Spider was wonderful and I’m sure it’s going to be a very popular picture biography. I can’t help but think E.B. White himself would be very pleased with it! I love all of Kate Messner’s work, especially the way she handles tough topics (The Seventh Wish), so I’m really looking forward to reading Breakout! Thanks for sharing and have a terrific week!

  3. I’m reading Show Me a Story! (Why Picture Books Matter) by Leonard Marcus. “Conversations with 21 Celebrated Illustrators” Although I expected (incorrectly) to find a few how-to-use-picture-books ideas, the book does have merit. It consists of 21 interviews that focus on each illustrator’s philosophy regarding art. I am enjoying the interviews with some of my most beloved illustrators (Mo Willems, Eric Carle, Kevin Henkes, Maurice Sendak and others), and skipping those I have not heard of before. I bought a used book so am not out much, but would have been unhappy had I paid full tilt. I suspect an art aficionado would feel much differently.

  4. I still have to pick up the E.B. White book, but am eager to read it. I love reading about White and I adore Lauren’s artwork. I am also looking forward to reading Kate Messner’s book. Thanks!
